MTU Large scale battery energy storage system for Semper Power

Rolls Royce Power Systems has been entrusted to provide and install the overall solution of large mtu EnergyPack QG battery energy storage system to Semper Power, a Dutch energy company based in Frisinen. The order also covers general contractor services, as well as construction of buildings and other infrastructure. Semper Power develops and operates energy storage systems to serve wind and solar power developers, distribution network operators and industrial customers.

This large-scale battery energy storage system, with an output power of 30 MW and a storage capacity of 60 MWh, will be used for grid frequency regulation in the Netherlands to integrate renewable energy power into the public grid. After fully charged, the system can provide 8000 households with electricity for a whole day. The mtu QG EnergyPack energy storage solution provided by Rolls Royce power system business segment consists of 168 battery units, 7 inverters and the intelligent control platform mtu EnergetIQ. The system is expected to be put into operation in the spring of 2023, becoming the largest energy storage system in the Netherlands and one of the largest energy storage systems in the EU.
