MTU 2000 Series G06 Diesel Engines Enter Localized Mass Production to Support Export of Generator Sets

Recently, Yuchai MTU Suzhou Plant under Rolls-Royce Power Systems has rolled out mass-produced MTU 2000 Series G06 12V2000G65diesel engines. Developed specifically for generator set applications, this model has obtained China’s Stage III non-road emission certification. It serves both domestic emergency power supply and overseas export markets, marking a key milestone in the localized layout of MTU power for power generation.

The MTU 2000 Series G06 features stable power output. Equipped with a high-pressure common rail electronic fuel system, it delivers outstanding transient load acceptance and strong resistance to sudden load changes. It meets power backup standards for data centers, hospitals, industrial parks and mobile power trucks, and is also suitable for prime power operation in many overseas projects. Adopting MTU’s proven reliable design, the engine is compatible with HVO sustainable fuel. Customers can cut carbon emissions without major modifications to the unit, complying with low-carbon requirements in many countries.

Built to the same manufacturing and FAT factory acceptance test standards as German-origin units, this localized model shortens lead times and reduces logistics costs compared with fully imported versions. It brings great convenience for domestic generator set OEMs engaged in export business. When integrated into soundproof or containerized generator sets, the engine can be fitted with exhaust aftertreatment options to meet major overseas emission certifications such as EAC and EPA, targeting Africa, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and other key export markets.

At the signing ceremony, multiple generator set OEMs signed long-term supply framework agreements with Rolls-Royce Power Systems. The orders cover emergency standby power, power rental and overseas EPC projects. Global demand for high-power diesel generator sets remains robust amid tight supply chains. Localized production will further secure stable supply of the MTU 2000 Series.
