Notes for installation of smoke pipe of MTU diesel generator Set

1) The exhaust pipe of each diesel engine should be led out of the room separately and should be laid overhead or in the gutter. The exhaust manifold and muffler should be supported separately and should not be directly supported on the exhaust manifold of the diesel engine or fixed on other parts of the diesel engine. Flexible connection is adopted between smoke exhaust lead pipe and exhaust main pipe. The bracket on the exhaust pipe must allow the pipe to expand or adopt a roller bracket, and the short flexible pipe or expansion bellows should be between the two fixed brackets of the long pipe, and combined into one.

2) The length of smoke exhaust lead pipe and matching requirements with pipe diameter should be determined according to the data provided by the manufacturer. When the exhaust pipe needs to pass through the wall, it should be equipped with a protective sleeve. Outdoor vertical laying along the wall, the pipe outlet should be added to the rain cap or cut into a 320~450 Angle. The wall thickness of all smoke exhaust pipes should not be less than 3mm.

3) The direction of the exhaust pipe should be fireproof, and the slope of 0.3%~0.5% should be set up in the outdoor part. Slope to the outside, easy to exhaust the condensate and condensate water. Install blowdown valve at low point when horizontal pipe is long.

4) If the smoke exhaust pipe in the equipment room is laid overhead, the insulation layer should be installed in the part of the room, and the thickness of the insulation layer should not be less than 60 mm below 2 meters from the ground; Safety measures should also be considered when the smoke exhaust pipe is laid under the fuel pipe overhead or the gutter is laid through the fuel pipe.

5) When the exhaust pipe is long, natural compensation section should be used. If unconditional, compensator should be installed.

6) The smoke exhaust pipe should not turn too much, and the turning degree should be greater than 900. Generally, the turning should not be more than three times, otherwise it will lead to poor smoke exhaust of the diesel engine and affect the power output of the diesel engine unit.
